Slot canyons are formed as a result of years and years of flash floods and erosion. What begins as a small crack in the earth's surface eventually is sculpted and carved into a narrow passageway that offers photographer's endless composition opportunities. This small slot canyon is located along the White Domes trail in Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada.

I LOVE the outdoors, and the mountains are my happy place. Many years ago, we visited the Canadian Rockies, and we instantly fell in love with what the mountains have to offer, from breathtaking scenery to countless wildlife opportunities. I remember traveling through a small town in British Columbia, Radium Hot Springs, where the sign that welcomes you to town says, “Mountains bring peace to the people.”. That quote and John Muir’s quote, “The mountains are calling and I must go” have resonated with me ever since.
