The best laid plans often get sidetracked when you come upon the unexpected. I was driving along, headed to a specific destination when I noticed the sky starting to light up. Combined with the beautiful autumn colors, I couldn't resist making a detour to enjoy the scene that unfolded in front of me on this crisp, cool autumn morning.

I LOVE the outdoors, and the mountains are my happy place. Many years ago, we visited the Canadian Rockies, and we instantly fell in love with what the mountains have to offer, from breathtaking scenery to countless wildlife opportunities. I remember traveling through a small town in British Columbia, Radium Hot Springs, where the sign that welcomes you to town says, “Mountains bring peace to the people.”. That quote and John Muir’s quote, “The mountains are calling and I must go” have resonated with me ever since. Whether it's shooting landscapes or wildlife, I find such a sense of peace and solitude just being there in the moment. Nourishment for the soul....a reminder for me that life is good.
