I often drive by this historic chapel and never pay any attention, but on this particular evening, the conditions were simply too good to pass up. It stormed earlier in the afternoon and was cloudy most of the day. In usual Colorado fashion, the clouds gave way to a beautiful sunset, complete with summer flowers in bloom, and the beautiful historic Chapel on the Rocks.

I LOVE the outdoors, and the mountains are my happy place. Many years ago, we visited the Canadian Rockies, and we instantly fell in love with what the mountains have to offer, from breathtaking scenery to countless wildlife opportunities. I remember traveling through a small town in British Columbia, Radium Hot Springs, where the sign that welcomes you to town says, “Mountains bring peace to the people.”. That quote and John Muir’s quote, “The mountains are calling and I must go” have resonated with me ever since. Whether it's shooting landscapes or wildlife, I find such a sense of peace and solitude just being there in the moment. Nourishment for the soul....a reminder for me that life is good.
